The restoration and enhancement of the Qasr Al Hosn, an old fort located in the heart of Abu Dhabi city.

This massive project was one of the five finalists for the Architizer A+Award 2022 in the Urban and Masterplan category.

The restoration of the Al Hosn site has transformed it into a cultural heartland, providing a platform for community engagement, cultural exchange, and everyday life for the city's inhabitants.

In 2008, the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage initiated the restoration and enhancement project of the Qasr Al Hosn. The project aimed to restore the fort's original structures, including the palace, watchtower, and defensive walls, while also creating a modern cultural complex around it.

DTD played a crucial role in this project by providing backfilling and hardscape services. They were responsible for leveling the ground and creating a stable base for the new structures, as well as installing hardscape elements. Today, the Qasr Al Hosn site is a vibrant cultural hub that hosts a range of events, exhibitions, and activities throughout the year. The restored fort is now home to a museum that showcases the history and heritage of Abu Dhabi, while the surrounding area features gardens, performance spaces, and cafés. The site provides a permanent platform for community engagement, cultural exchange, and everyday life for the city's inhabitants.
